3 Exodus 9 rue des Trois Mages, 1e 04.91.42.02.39 Small performance space between cours Julien and place Jean-Jaurès, presenting world music and theatre with a strong focus on Africa and Asia. Live events usually start at 8.30pm.

5 Café Julien 39 cours Julien, 6e 04.91.24.34.10 Lively bar with mixed clientele, part of the Espace Julien arts centre. Regular live rock and reggae music; performances start 8.30–10pm.
6 Machine à Coudre 6 rue Jean-Roque, 1e 04.91.55.62.65 Opening time: Thurs– Sat.Music café hosting alternative rock, hip-hop and reggae acts. Small entry charge depending on act; some free events.
7 La Maronaise Rte de la Maronaise, Les Goudes, 8e 06.27.01.03.23 Opening time: 11–5; weekends only in May but daily from June onwards.From May– Sept this open air disco in a wild setting by the sea is the most alluring place to dance in Marseille.
8 New Cancan 3 rue Sénac, 1er 04.91.48.59.76 Opening time: Thurs– Sun 11pm– dawnIt's pretty cheesy, but the New Cancan is nevertheless Marseille's best-known and longest running gay disco, with regular Sunday night cabaret. Fri & Sat entry charges are steep.
