Hostel and campsite

1 Centre International de Séjour 10–12 Canal St-Martin 02.99.33.22.33, rennes@fuaj.org. Welcoming, attractively positioned HI hostel, 3km north of the centre beside the Canal d'Ille et Rance. Charging €17 per person per night for a dorm bed, it has a cafeteria and a laundry, and operates a 1am curfew; membership of a hostelling association is compulsory. Bus #18 runs there from the place Ste-Anne métro station, direction "St-Gregoire". Opening time: Open all year

2 Camping Municipal des Gayeulles rue de Professeur-Maurice-Audin 02.99.36.91.22 An appealingly verdant site 1km east of central Rennes in a park that offers good shade and a pool and sporting facilities nearby; take bus #3 to the centre – last bus runs at 12.30am. Open all year, with pitches costing up to €14 in season.
