Arrival

The gare SNCF lies on the west side of the city centre, fifteen-minutes' walk from the cathedral along rue du Maire-Kuss and rue du 22-Novembre. The airport shuttle bus (navette), departing Entzheim international airport every twenty minutes (5.20am–11.20pm), drops off at Baggersee, south of the centre, from where you can catch the tram into central Strasbourg (€5.20 single combined ticket).

With much of the city centre pedestrian-only, several car parks ( www.parcus.com ) cater for drivers. While the compact centre can easily be explored on foot, the city boasts an efficient public transport system, which includes five tram lines (€1.30 single or €2.50 return; www.cts-strasbourg.fr ). Strasbourg must also be a strong contender for France's most bicycle-friendly city; 300km of cycle lanes make bicycle hire a tempting option.
