Getting around

The Metroshuttle free bus service (every 5–10min; 0871/200 2233, www.gmpte.com ) weaves its way across central Manchester connecting all the major points of interest. There is also the Metrolink tram network ( www.metrolink.co.uk ), which whisks through the city centre bound for the suburbs. There are two routes: one links central Manchester with Bury in the north and Altrincham in the south, the other travels west to Eccles via Salford Quays, the location of the Imperial War Museum North.
