Windermere Lake Cruises operates services to Lakeside at the southern tip of Lake Windemere (£8 return) or to Brockhole and Waterhead (for Ambleside) at the northern end (£7.70 return). There's also a direct service from Ambleside to the Lake District Visitor Centre at Brockhole (£6 return), and a shuttle service across the lake between Pier 3 at Bowness and Ferry House, Sawrey (£3.50 return). The company also operates an enjoyable circular cruise around the islands (departs several times daily from Bowness; £6; 45min), while a 24-hour Freedom-of-the-Lake ticket costs £14. Services on all routes are frequent between Easter and October (every 30min–1hr at peak times), and reduced during the winter – but there are sailings every day except Christmas Day.
