Bristol's Old Station stands outside Temple Meads Station, the original terminus of the Great Western Railway linking London and Bristol. The terminus, like the line itself, was designed by Brunel in 1840, and was the first great piece of railway architecture. Part of the building now houses the British Empire and Commonwealth Museum, which focuses on the history of the empire and the Commonwealth that succeeded it, covering trade, slavery and culture.
