    2 Author Pick The Bell 103 Walcot St Easy-going tavern with a beer garden and live music (Mon & Wed eve, plus Sun lunchtime).

    3 The George Mill Lane, Bathampton (20min walk from the centre) Popular canal-side pub, with better than average bar food.

    4 The Porter Miles Buildings, George St Good beer and veggie food in a grungy setting. There are tables outside and pool and table football in the Cellar Bar, as well as free live music (Mon– Thurs), DJs (Fri & Sat) and comedy (Sun).

    5 The Salamander 3 John St Real-ale pub with wooden decor, a laid-back atmosphere and good food available at the bar or in the upstairs restaurant.
