TŘEBÍČ is best known for its Romanesque basilica and its restored Jewish ghetto – both protected by UNESCO since 2003. Třebič's main square, Karlovo náměstí, is not as pretty as those in Telč (Telč) or Slavonice (Slavonice), though its grandiose scale gives some hint of the town's medieval importance. In most other respects, it's a fairly nondescript town, though it does serve as a useful jumping-off point for the Baroque chateau of Jaroměřice nad Rokytnou.
