Money

The local currency is the Trinidad and Tobago dollar (TT$), divided into one hundred cents. Coins come in 1, 5, 10 and 25-cent pieces, while notes come in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 20 and 100. Keep some cash in small denominations as supermarkets and bars may exchange TT$100 but taxis and street vendors often can't, and should be paid with TT$20 or less.

Upon leaving T&T, you'll be required to pay a TT$100 (US$17) departure tax in local currency.
