The western highlands
Arrival
Unhelpfully for the traveller, virtually all buses arrive and depart Quetzaltenango from nowhere near the centre of town. If you arrive by second-class bus, you'll be destined for the chaotic Minerva bus terminal on the city's northwestern edge. From here walk 300m south through the market stalls to 4 Calle and catch a microbus marked "Parque" to get to the centre. Four companies operate first-class buses to and from the capital, each with their own private terminal north of the plaza.
