Getting around
Buses flow continuously along the Carretera Interamericana, and tourist shuttle buses serve all the main centres. Many minor roads have been paved in recent years, and transport connections have improved greatly. Often the most practical plan of action is to base yourself in one of the larger places and then make a series of day-trips to village markets and fiestas, although even the smallest places will usually offer some kind of accommodation.
