El Remate
On the eastern shore of Lago de Petén Itzá, EL REMATE offers a tranquil alternative to staying in nearby Flores. Just 2km north of the Ixlú junction, it's a small, friendly village, fast growing in popularity as a convenient base for visiting Tikal as well as several other nearby places, such as the Biotopo Cerro Cahuí and the ruins of Ixlú. There are several high-quality artisan workshops on the lakeshore that sell beautifully carved wooden handicrafts.
