Siete Altares
The most popular side-trip is to the Siete Altares, an imposing series of waterfalls, much more impressive in the rainy season. Robberies have occurred here occasionally, and though no incidents have been reported for some time, it's best to hire a local guide or visit as part of a tour. The falls are about 5km west of town, accessed by following the main beach past Flowas Café and, just before the beach eventually peters out, taking a path to the left. Follow this inland and you'll soon reach the first of the falls. All of the falls are idyllic places to swim, but the highest one is the best of all.
