Traveller's cheques

Although traveller's cheques are easily exchangeable for cash in many banks and bureaux de change, known as cambiosi n Spanish, subject to a small commission (2.5–4 percent), a significant number of shops and restaurants refuse to accept them, and US-dollar traveller's cheques will be subject to an additional 10 percent tax. A further complication is that most banks and cambios require a receipt as proof of purchase when cashing traveller's cheques. Also, make sure that your signature is identical to the one on the original on the cheque submitted: cashiers have been known to refuse to cash cheques with seemingly minor discrepancies like, for example, an "I" dotted in a different place.
