Havana
South of Havana
Heading south of Havana, the city fades in fits and starts, the buildings dying out only to reappear again almost immediately amongst the trees and green fields which bind this area together. Numerous satellite towns dot the semi-urban, semi-rural landscape, distinctly provincial in character yet so close to Havana as to be served by municipal bus routes.A near-perfect preservation of the great writer's home in Havana, the Museo Ernest Hemingway, nearer the Vía Blanca than the road to the airport, is the most concrete option and one of the few that stands up well by itself; the views across Havana alone are enough to justify the trip.
