Havana
Marina Hemingway
Just beyond the small suburb of Jaimantias, is the Marina Hemingway, Avenida 5ta y Calle 248 Santa Fe, which has little connection with Ernest Hemingway, despite the name. Several restaurants and a shopping centre make it a draw for visitors looking for a deluxe spot to relax, while yacht owners can dock in one of the four parallel canals, each 1km long, 15m deep and 6m wide. If you are docking you should notify your arrival through VHF channel 16 or 7462 SSB. As well as hosting annual billfish and marlin fishing tournaments, the marina is one of the only places in Havana to offer any diving, with a dive centre (
7/33-1149) and two dive sites offshore. A recent addition is a huge, child-friendly pool. The marina is about a fifteen-minute, $10–15CUC taxi ride from Vedado.
