1 Los Caneyes Ave. de los Eucaliptos y Circunvalación
42/ 20-4512
reservas@caneyes.hor.tur.cu Tucked away in the low grassy hills just beyond the southwestern outskirts of the city, about 1km from the Plaza de la Revolución and a $3CUC taxi ride from Parque Vidal, this neatly laid-out complex on the edge of a small wood features Amerindian-style accommodation huts, thoughtfully furnished and with good facilities. There's a restaurant, small pool and a hot tub. Price: $60-80CUC
2 Santa Clara Libre Parque Vidal no.6 e/ Tristá y Padre Chao
42/20-7548–50 A lime-green, eleven-storey tower with superb views and an unbeatable location. Though cramped and slightly decrepit, this hotel is still quite lively and attracts a refreshing mixture of Cuban and foreign guests. Some rooms are a little dim and confined, but many have good views and all are sufficiently equipped, including cable TV. There's a reasonable, inexpensive restaurant, a basement caféteria and a rooftop nightclub. Price: $30-40CUC
3 Villa La Granjita Carretera de Maleza Km 2
42/21-8190–1
reserva@granjita.vcl.cyt.cu Sizeable and simply furnished rooms in concrete cabins, scattered throughout a spacious site with its own woodlands and a stream; there's a restaurant, a pool and a hot tub as well. Slightly further out of town, with plenty of palms and pines, the site looks more natural than landscaped and is somewhat less contrived than Los Caneyes. Price: $50-60CUC
