Ciego de Ávila and Camagüey

Arrival

Daily flights from Havana arrive at the Ignacio Agramonte airport ( 32/26-1010), 7km north of the city, from where you can catch a bus or unmetered taxi ($4CUC) into town. Two daily buses from Havana pull in at the Astro bus station ( 32/27-1668) on the Carretera Central, 3km south of the town centre; an unmetered taxi or horse-drawn carriage into town should cost around $6CUC. Trains from Havana and the neighbouring provinces arrive at the frenetic train station ( 32/29-2633) on the northern edge of town, next door to the local bus station. A ride to the centre in a bicitaxi should cost no more than fifteen pesos, an unmetered taxi $1CUC. If you feel up to negotiating the imbroglio of town planning, it's a fifteen-minute walk along Van Horne to República, the straight road leading directly into the centre.
