The east coast

Laem Ngop

All ferries to Ko Chang and some services to Ko Mak leave from one of four different piers west along the coast from the small port town of Laem Ngop, 17km southwest of Trat. Long-distance transport to Laem Ngop is either by tourist minibus from Bangkok's Thanon Khao San, Pattaya or Ko Samet, or by public bus from Bangkok's Eastern (Ekamai) Bus Terminal (2 daily at 7.45am & 9.45am; 5hr 15min; return buses depart Laem Ngop at 12.30pm, 2pm & 4pm). All other public transport, including most buses from Bangkok's Eastern Bus Terminal and all buses from Bangkok's Mo Chit Northern Bus Terminal, Suvarnabhumi Airport, Pattaya, Rayong and the Cambodian border, terminates in Trat, from where it's a B50 share-taxi ride (20–40mins) or B150 charter to the Laem Ngop piers.
