The central plains

Arrival

Phitsanulok train station is in the town centre, but to get into town from the regional bus station, 2km east on Highway 12, you'll need to catch a local bus.

You can also fly to Phitsanulok from Bangkok; the airport is 7km south of town, and has Avis ( www.avisthailand.com ) and Budget ( www.budget.co.th ) car-rental outlets.

If you've arrived at Phitsanulok train station and want to make an immediate bus connection to Sukhothai, you can pick up a Sukhothai-bound bus as it passes the Topland Plaza shopping centre on Thanon Singawat (daily 5.30am–6pm; every 30min; 1hr), a B50 cycle-taxi ride away.
