Surat Thani has decent bus connections with Bangkok, Phunphin, Chumphon, Krabi, Phang Nga, Khao Sok and Phuket, but there are many different terminals in town. When it comes to moving on, avoid the numerous scam artists and dodgy bus services by booking through Surat's best travel agency, the helpful and reliable Phantip, in front of Talat Kaset I at 293/6–8 Thanon Taladmai (077 272230 or 077 272906).
The train station is at Phunphin, 13km west of Surat Thani's town centre, and served by buses into Surat Thani (every 10min, 5.30am-7.30pm).
Surat Thani airport (077 441230–1) is 27km north of town and served by minibuses (B100) into town.
