1 Churamu 1-2-14 Ekimae-dōri Cosy café offering cheap pasta and curry dishes. The wooden interior and local art add some character to the place. Opening time: Open daily until 8.30pm
2 Frank 2F, Ekimae-dōri Reasonably priced and serving staple Japanese café food including curry rice and pilaf. The entrance is on the side of the building. Opening time: Closed Tues
3 Ikoi Ekimae-dōri. Restaurant serving a decent range of Japanese staple dishes, including fish. The picture menu outside will help you choose your meal.
4 La Francesca 7-1 Kame-yama Top-class Italian restaurant attached to the hotel of the same name which does excellent-value pasta lunches (¥1575 or ¥3150) and more expensive dinners. Sometimes closed for weddings.

Shiva 1-1 Nakagawara-chō Modern Indian restaurant in the Sunroute International Hotel serving a good set lunch of authentic Indian curry and naan bread for ¥800, and more expensive à la carte evening meals. Last orders taken at 9pm
6 Subarashiki Kana Jinsei Ekimae-dōri Lively little izakaya whether you're looking for evening entertainment or not.
7 Xavier Campana 5-2 Kame-yama Mouthwatering bakery and restaurant serving a wide range of breads, cakes, salads and a mixture of European cuisines, including German-style dishes, fondue and pasta.
8 Yamabuki Komeya-chō. This inexpensive and authentic noodle operation is identifiable by its traditional wooden exterior. Price: Bowls of tempura, udon and soba cost as little as ¥470 Opening time: Daily 11.30am–5.30pm
