3 Hotel Granvia 1-5 Ekimoto-chō 086/234-7000 234-7099 A very close second to ANA Hotel Okayama in terms of luxury, with tastefully furnished, large rooms. Public areas are attractive and there are several restaurants, bars and shops. Price: ¥15000-20000
4 Hollywood 1-2-6 Ekimae-chō 086/226-2188 This men-only capsule hotel and sauna, above a pachinko parlour in the shopping arcade opposite Okayama Station, is spacious and clean. Capsules are available from 5pm to 10am. There's another branch at 10-4 Chūō-chō. Price: ¥3000-5000

Each room has a refrigerator, and there is a Japanese restaurant on the second floor. There are three bikes for guest use, and computers in the lobby and business centre. Price: ¥7000–15000
6 Matsunoki 19-1 Ekimoto-chō 086/253-4111 253-4110. A two-minute walk from the west side of the station, this hotel has both Western-style and tatami rooms, the cheaper ones with shared bath. A Japanese-style breakfast (¥900) is served in the communal dining hall. Price: ¥7000-10000
7 Okayama-ken Seinen-kaikan Youth Hostel 1-7-6 Tsukura-chō 086/252-0651 In a residential area, ten minutes by bus #5 or #15 from the JR station, this hostel has comfortable rooms, friendly management and a relaxed atmosphere. Accommodation is in shared tatami rooms, meals are available and you can rent bikes for ¥300 a day. Cross the footbridge from the bus stop and follow the YH sign down the first road on your right. Price: ¥2940
