Western Honshū
Hiroshima Prefectural Museum of Art
This is an impressive modern facility worth visiting to see two paintings alone: the fiery, awe-inspiring Holocaust at Hiroshima by Hirayama Ikuo, who was in the city when the bomb dropped, and the floppy watches of Salvador Dalí's surreal piece Dreams of Venus. Check out what's showing in the temporary exhibition area, too, for which you'll pay an extra fee. Opening time: Tues– Fri & Sun 9am–5pm, Sat 9am–7pmPrice: ¥500
