Shinagawa and Tokyo Bay
The transport and hotel hub Shinagawa is the location of one of the original checkpoints on the Tōkaidō, the major highway into Edo during the reign of the shoguns. East of the station's Shinkansen tracks towards Tokyo Bay a clutch of modern towers reach for the sky, though none is particularly interesting to visit.
