Tokushima Chūō-kōen
Five minutes' walk to the east of the JR station is the attractive Tokushima Chūō-kōen, a park on the site of the fortress of daimyō Hachisuka Iemasa. From 1586 his clan lived in the castle for 280 years, creating the town that is now Tokushima. All that remains of the castle, which was destroyed in 1896, are a few stone walls, part of the moat and the Shenshuku-teien, a beautiful formal garden (¥50).
