    1 Takino Tucked into the backstreets southeast of the junciton of junction Chūō-dōri and Nanokomachi-dōri, it's a little tricky to find, but worth it for the beautiful old building and tasty food. The house speciality is wappa-meshi, a wooden box of steamed rice with various toppings such as flowering fern (zenmai), fish or mushrooms (kinoko) depending on the season.     2 Sasa-no-an The cheerful and well-known Sasa-no-an serves some of Aizu-Wakamatsu's renowned handmade soba noodles and great vegetable tempura. Opening time: May– Oct Tues– Sat 11.30am–2pm & 5.30–8pm, Sun 11.30am–2pm; Nov– Apr Tues– Sat 11.30am–2pm
