Getting around
To get around, local buses depart from either the Miyazaki Eki-mae Bus Centre or from the Miyakō City terminal, south of the river. However, since almost all buses call at stops around the city's central crossroads, the best thing is to head for this junction and ask which stop you need; getting off here, ask for Depāto-mae. Destinations are shown on the front of the bus in kanji; take a numbered ticket as you board and pay the driver on exit according to the fare on the display panel; the minimum fare is ¥150. Miyazaki's enlightened city fathers also provide free bikes to reduce the number of cars on the roads. You can pick up a bike at the Wheels outlet (daily: April– Sept 9am–7pm; Oct– March 9am–6pm) to the west of the station on Hirsohima-dōri, and at Yotten Plaza (daily 11am–6.30pm) on Tachibana-dōri beside the Kensington Hotel. A deposit of ¥500 is required and the first three hours are free, after which you pay just ¥200 for the rest of the day.
