Japan Guide
Kyūshū
Miyazaki
Perched on the southeast coast of Kyūshū, the breezy, semi-tropical city of MIYAZAKI claims the longest sunshine hours in Japan, while the brightly coloured blooms and phoenix palms, the city's emblems, give the streets a relaxed, summery feel. Actual sights are a little thin on the ground – a historic shrine, municipal park and a clutch of moderately interesting museums – but Miyazaki makes a good base for exploring the Nichinan coast.
