www.anokhi.com Opening time: Daily 9.30am–8pm Started by a British designer, and recently relocated to a spacious new showroom, this is the place to buy high-quality "ethnic" Indian evening wear, salwar kameez and shirts. They also do lovely bedspreads, quilts, tablecloths and cushion covers.
2 Jodhpur Tailors Behind the Neelam Hotel near Ganpati Plaza, just off MI Rd Opening time: Mon– Sat 10.30am–9.30pm, Sun 2–6pmOne of the best tailors in town, patronized by no less than the maharaja himself. Hand-stitched suits run from around Rs7500 and up, or you could just pick up a shirt (from Rs700) or a pair of trousers (Rs1200) or jodhpurs (Rs1400).
3 Kripal Kumbh Shiv Marg, near the Jaipur Inn Opening time: Daily 9.30am–8pmThe former workshop-cum-home of Jaipur's most famous ceramist, the late Kripal Singh, full of attractive and affordable examples of traditional blue-and-white Jaipuri pottery.
4 Rajasthali MI Rd, just south of Ajmer Gate Opening time: Mon– Sat 11.30am–7.30pmThis large, government-run emporium is a good place to get a sense of the range of handicrafts available and gauge approximate costs, but you'll probably find similar items at cheaper prices in the Pink City bazaars.
5 Soma 5 Jacob Rd, near the Jai Mahal hotel
