    1 Author Pick Mango Tree 300m beyond Sacred Ford Wonderfully relaxed riverside hangout on a series of stone terraces. Fine Indian and Western veg dishes, but mostly a great place to linger over a simple snack or drink.

    2 New Shanti On the path from Virupaksha temple down to the river Best known for its delicious cakes and breads but also does standard Indian and Continental dishes.

    3 Sheesh Besh Virupapuragadda, 350m west down main drag, next to Sai Plaza Popular restaurant and French bakery, with fluffy croissants and excellent cinnamon rolls.

    4 Shiv Moon Riverside path, east of the village Good place to break the journey to or from the Vitthala temple, serving pastas and standard curries.

    5 Sri Sangameshwarar Main Bazaar One of the more genuine Indian places, where you can get the best thalis and masala dosas, as well as the odd Western snack.

    6 Suresh On the path from Virupaksha temple down to the river Established joint which specializes in tuna, Goan dishes and momos (Tibetan dumplings).

    7 Trishul On the lane from beside the tourist office Offers one of Hampi's widest menus, featuring chicken, tuna, lasagne, pizza and desserts such as scrumptious apple crumble. Beer occasionally available too.
