Majnu Ka Tilla
Although the Tibetan colony at Majnu Ka Tilla, fifteen minutes north of Old Delhi by auto-rickshaw, offers no sightseeing, it does hold a number of excellent-value budget hotels with immaculately kept rooms, which are much nicer than what you'd get for the same price in Paharganj. If you want to avoid Delhi's hustle and bustle, or to have a change from Indian culture and cuisine, this relatively quiet district makes a good alternative base, with Tibetan food, There's only one main drag in Majnu ka Tilla, so everything's pretty easy to find.
