The Yellow River

Getting around

The largest concentration of city buses (¥1–2) is found outside the train station at the northern end of Jiefang Lu. There are other clusters just outside the South Gate, and at the southern end of Yanta Lu, just north of the Big Goose Pagoda. Bus #610 (aka tourist bus #8) is particularly useful, as it links most of the sights. It runs from the train station via Bei Xin Jie, Bei Dajie, the Bell and Drum towers, then south off Xi Dajie down Guangji Jie to Small Goose Pagoda, Daxingshan Si, the History Museum and on to the Big Goose Pagoda.

As the streets are wide and flat, cycling is a good way to get around. All the main streets have cycle lanes. Otherwise, there are plenty of green taxis cruising the streets.
