The Yellow River

Arrival

The airport, 30km to the northeast, is served by an airport bus (¥15) to the Haitian Dajiudian, still 5km east of the city – cross the road and catch bus #26 to its terminus off Taiping Lu. A taxi the whole way is at least ¥100.

5km north, at Sifang train station, there's a clutch of long-distance bus stations – bus #5 runs from the area down to the seafront at Taiping Lu. There's also a bus depot down near the old train station, within walking distance to accommodation.

The passenger-ferry terminal is north of the old town – turn right out of the terminal and catch bus #303 to the old train-station area, or #8 to Zhongshan Lu. Taxis start at ¥10. There are international ferries from the passenger-ferry terminal on Xinjiang Lu to Inchon (17hr) and Gunsan (22hr), South Korea; and to Shimonoseki, Japan (36hr). For Dalian, you'll need to get a ferry from Yantai, three hours north by bus.
