The Stilwell Museum occupies the former home of General Joseph Stilwell, Chief Commander of the US forces' China, Burma and India operations from 1942 until 1944. The modernist 1930s building has been decked out in period furniture, with informative photo displays charting Stilwell's career.

Stilwell had served as a military attaché in China during the 1930s, and during the war had to coordinate the recapture of Burma and the re-establishment of overland supply lines into China from India. He was also caught up in keeping the shaky Nationalist– Communist alliance together, and his insistence that equal consideration be given to both the Guomindang and CCP caused him to fall out with Chiang Kaishek.
