Sichuan and Chongqing

Sanxia Museum

Opening time: Daily 9am–5pm, last tickets 4pm

    Price: ¥40

Address: Renmin Lu (Hongjiayan light-rail stop from Linjiangmen station)

The Sanxia Museum commemorates Chongqing's regional history over four floors. Picks here include the Three Gorges Hall, with beautifully arranged dioramas of gorge scenery and a range of archeological finds; the Ba-Yu Hall, which covers everything from pre-human fossils to a marvellous array of Eastern Han tomb bricks; and the Li Chunli Hall, a donated collection of exquisite antique porcelain and paintings. You would, however, have to be very interested in period photos of Communist heroes to get much out of the "Anti Japanese Days (Savage Bombing in Chongqing)" Hall.
