Nightlife and entertainment
Blue Marlin At the north end of the 1912 Nanjing complex, Taiping Bei Lu Above the restaurant is a dance floor and terrace with occasional Latin dance nights. Staff are often willing to plug your iPod into their sound system.
Mazzo South end of the 1912 Nanjing complex Good service and comfortable seating make this a nice spot to wind down. When the music's good (it's distinctly variable), Mazzo is also a great place to dance.
Rick's 413 Changbai Lu A three-level club, with a bar at street level, and dance floor and lounge above. Like the other clubs in Nanjing, hope for a good DJ when you go.
Scarlet 34-1 Hubei Lu, an alley south of Yunnan Lu Two-storey bar that's the late night venue of choice with most expat residents, with the occasional Western DJ playing dance sounds and rock. Opening time: Daily until 2am
