Arrival
Nanning's train station is central, at the northern end of Chaoyang Lu, and runs useful services to and from Guilin and central China; Beihai; Kunming; and the southwest via Chongzuo to Tuolong (Ningming) and the Vietnamese border at Pingxiang. The Nanning– Hanoi train departs daily, though you have to get out at Pingxiang, catch a minibus 15km to the border, walk across, and then catch further transport to the Vietnamese railhead at Lang Son.
Buses from the north or east (from Beihai, Guiping, Guilin or Guiyang for example) terminate at Langdong station, 10km east of the centre on Minzu Dadao; a #6 bus (50min) or a taxi (¥25) will get you to Chaoyang Lu in the centre. Buses from the southwest (Chongzuo, Ningming and Pingxiang, as well as Beihai and Guilin, and inter-provincial buses from Haikou, Guangzhou and Shenzhen) terminate 7km south at Jiangnan station, 40min from Chaoyang Lu on the #31 bus; a taxi will cost ¥20. Buses from the northwest (Daxin and Kunming) arrive just 2km from Chaoyang Lu at the North Transit Centre, also on the #31 bus route.
The internationalairport is 35km southwest of Nanning, with an airport bus (¥15) to the CAAC offices – taking a taxi costs around ¥100.
