Arrival
The airport is 2km south of town on Jichang Lu; bus #10 runs up to Haikou Park from outside, or catch the shuttle (¥15) to the CAAC/China Southern office on Haixiu Dong Lu.
The New Port is north off Changti Dadao on Xingang Lu, where most ferries from Hong Kong and the mainland pull in; those from Beihai in Guangxi sometimes use the Xiuying Wharf, 5km farther west along Binhai Dadao – you can take bus #6 to the centre from either.
Buses from the mainland wind up at the central bus station south of Haikou Park on Nanbao Lu; those from elsewhere on the island use the eastbus station 2km down Haifu Dadao (bus #1 or minibus #217 to the Haifu Dadao/Haixiu Dong Lu junction), or the west bus station way out on Haixiu Xi Lu (bus #2 or minibus #217 go to Haixiu Dong Lu from here).
The train station only offers one daily service to Guangzhou and is way out to the northwest – buses #28 and #40 head here from Haixiu Lu.
