Dubai's massive, ultra-modern international airport is very centrally located in Garhoud, on the southern edge of the city centre, and offers a suitably glamorous and glitzy introduction to the emirate, although the whole place can get insanely busy and overcrowded at peak times. The main five-star hotels all have offices at the airport, and there are lots of car rental companies here, too, along with a DTCM tourist information kiosk (daily 24hr). You can change money here, but at poor rates; it's better to pick up some dirhams from the cluster of ATMs by the exit.
