3 Tuishuise Market St 048 881 1322 www.tuishuise.co.za Staying in this street of comfortable and very stylish one- to four-bedroomed Victorian houses for rent gives an authentic sense of colonial domestic life over a century ago. Prices are very reasonable given that you get what amounts to a mini-museum to yourself, each house kitted out with antique furniture and crockery. There's dining close at hand at the Victoria Manor, though you can also self-cater. Price: R201-300

4 Victoria Manor 36 Market St 048 881 1650 www.tuishuise.co.za Effortlessly gracious, old-fashioned hotel with excellent service, bags of character and period fittings.
