HAZYVIEW, 43km north of Nelspruit, used to be little more than a couple of large, well-stocked shopping centres buzzing with minibus taxis and small market stalls selling fruit and goods to the surrounding African community. But with the opening of the Phabeni Gate into Kruger Park, a mere 10km from town, Hazyview is perfectly positioned for access to the game-rich southern section of the game reserve. The town is one of the best bases for visitors who want to stay outside the park, and do some adventure activities and tours, as well as view game. Best of the activities include encounters with three rehabilitated African elephants at the Elephant Sanctuary and an exhilarating aerial tree-top cable way.
