Juma Musjid
Address: Dr Yusuf Dadoo and Queen streets
The Juma Musjid and its gilt-domed minarets were completed in 1927. It's the largest mosque in the southern hemisphere, and the area's focal point, although Durban's Indian population is predominantly Hindu. You're welcome to enter the mosque, but make sure you leave your shoes at the door. The colonnaded verandas give way to the alley of the bazaar-like Madressa Arcade next door, heaving with Indian traders peddling kerosene lamps, tailor-made outfits and beads.
