1 Al Khalifa Fish Centre 320 Sharia el-Geish 064/333-7303 There's no menu here: you just wait for the very friendly proprietor to bring out a platter of fish and simply point to what looks best. They often hvae umm el-khaloul, the popular local shellfish, on offer, though in hot weather avoid it if it looks as though it might have been standing around.

2 Green House The best restaurant in town: a swanky hotel dining room with excellent service and a Continental menu. Try the good fish kebabs, from £E25, and finish off with one of the decadent cream cakes.
