Stilt Fishing in Sri Lanka
My friend is planning a trip to Sri Lanka. Where can she come across stilt fishing in the country? Is it still widely practised?

Hi Dipika
Stilt fishing isn’t widely practised (despite being on the covers of many guidebooks!) but your friend will still be able to witness it on the south coast of Sri Lanka – the village of Ahangama, about 20km east of Galle, is famous for it. The stilt fishermen aren’t out there all the time (it depends on the current) but late afternoon/sunset is a good time to see them. Between October and December are apparently the best months.
