You can’t go wrong in Istanbul. Small shops are the best for a taste of the local delights. You can eat your way through Istanbul. There are some great International places if you are in the mood. I had the best Italian in Istanbul. Go to the market and get’s some Turkish Delight! You will get a sugar high, but worth the trip. I think that the Spice Market has the best Turkish Delight, but other’s may have other opinions??????? Enjoy!!!!!
hi, everybody there is a place i know for very good turkish regional food. just next to grand bazzar the restaurant nema is cal ANTAKYA RESTAURANT www.antakyarestaurant.com/#
If you’d like to try Uyghur (Chinese Muslims of Turkic origin) cuisine, the Zeytinburnu neighborhood is your best bet. Thick noodle soups, yoghurt, dumplings, lamb-stuffed bread, and plenty of cumin-laced lamb skewers all are staples not just of the Uyhgurs, but of Central Asian peoples as well.
Zeytinburnu isn’t exactly close to Istanbul’s main attractions, then again the above-mentioned cuisine isn’t too common in much of the world.
My most memorable mouthfuls were bought off the street – midye dolması (stuffed mussels that you buy one by one until you’ve had enough) and kokoreç, which are intestines served kebab style. The latter in particular might sound awful but they’re very popular – the fact that the stands are set up with servers in fast food restaurant-like uniforms (orange visors etc) kind of puts your mind at rest.
My best breakfast by far was here –
But be warned that doing them all over an evening/morning is a recipe for belly bother.
