Apart from Noma (I’m going in August), but still talking food, what’s going on in Copenhagen?
Is there a “scene”? Can I get anything that’s NOT foraged? What if I want to eat the Danish equivalent of a greasy spoon breakfast or Greggs pasty, where can I get that stuff?
I went to the Meatpacking District a couple of times when staying with a friend, Neil. We headed to Paté Paté for drinks and dinner. It’s quite expensive, but it’s got a cosy, candlelit, laidback vibe (though you have to book/there’s a waiting list if you don’t, which takes away some of the “laidbackness”).
You won’t find Greggs-esque food (gross, yuck, horrid) here…but perhaps someone else can recommend such a place! Have fun eating your way round town.
I really really liked restaurant-dubrovnik.dk/ – great food a bit off the tourist path. This is a favorite of the Deutsche Bahn crews (my g/f works there) that overnight in Copenhagen.
Also liked the www.burgercorner.dk/ – albeit more casual with outside dining in the plaza adjacent to the Carlton restaurant. Stunning hamburgers. This ain`t McDonald`s.
Funnily enough we’re putting the final touches on our new Copenhagen pocket guide. If you’re not into foraged cloudberries etc, I’d head to Nørrebro. Laundromat (www.thelaundromatcafe.com) is a quirky café/library (and yes, laundry) does an award-winning brunch. Follow up with beers at the Nørrebro Bryghus microwbrewery (www.noerrebrobryghus.dk). For a good-value lunch, the café at the Paustian design shop is hard to beat for smørrebrød: www.restaurantpaustian.dk/
