Best tapas in Barcelona
I’m off to Barcelona for a week in June, and several people have told me they know the BEST place in the city for tapas. It would be great to hear about your top tapas joint, so I can happily eat my way round the city! Please enlighten me…
Tickets, Feran Adria’s new Tapas bar on avenue Parallel is fantastic. The original and most authentic Tapas, however, can bé found at one of several bars in La Bocaria, the market off the Ramblas.
Definitely try Cal Pep (Plaça de les Olles, 8) in El Born – it’s a great experience, even the queuing part. Go early evening mid-week, get a seat at the bar, and it shouldn’t take too long before you’re tasting whichever delicious dishes they decide to place in front of you – it’s that kind of place: you’re asked what you like (or don’t like), then you’re presented with a mouth-watering selection as it’s cooked. The succulent tortilla bubbling away in a little skillet right before your eyes is truly mesmerising…
Maybe your week BCN is already over. But whoever knows BCN always comes back, so for your next visit try the restaurant Tantarantana, Carrer d’en Tantarantana, 24 (Barcelona), Area: Born- La Ribera.
Discovered it last November and the food was just great! We fell on it by chance, when we walked in (it was packed) and we saw what the kitchen had just sent through to be served…and that made us decide we would not eat anywhere else that night. We did not regret to have waited to find a table, which was on the terrace as the cosy restaurant was just too packed, mainly with local people it seemed (another good sign).
