Andalucia in August
We’re renting a house in Andalucia in mid-Aug. (Fab timing.) The house is cheap as chips, but flights from London to Granada and Malaga look really expensive, and we’re going to need to hire a car. Anyone done this at this time of year? Any tips on reasonably inexpensive ways to get there? Or good little local car hire outlets? Thanks.

Generally speaking it’ll be hard to get cheap fare for southern Spain in August, a very popular destination and all of Europe will have they summer holidays …. Local car hire outlet tend to be more or less the same price than the bigger company in Andalusia ..
I agree it is so hot and yes, dry. Take a train from a major city. The AVE is great and stress free. Fly into any of the big airports and take a train. Do it now as the prices go up and up! You won’t find many Spainard’s visiting or in some cases at home, as they will be at the sea. They will be escaping the heat, if they have the money this year. Car hire is good to and gives you such freedom. You will need a car in Andalucia for sure. Lot’s of olive groves, wine and fantastic food in that area, but in August it’s so hot. The dry heat will dry your clothes in minutes!!!! So in the end the train will get you closer, but it is the car that will provide you with freedom to get where you want to go, when you want to go.
