Woman floating on the surface of the water by sunset
Lying some 400m below sea level, the Dead Sea is famed as the lowest point on earth. Bordered by Jordan, Israel and the West Bank, its uniquely salty water – over thirty percent salinity compared to three or four percent in regular seawater – attracts hordes of tourists wanting to take a dip in its buoyant waters and bathe in its therapeutic mud. It’s literally impossible to sink and the sensation of floating completely unaided is not to be missed.
